Offense sends Tigers racing by Madonna
For the 3rd straight game, lacrosse has scored at least 18 goals after putting up that exact number in a 12-goal win over Madonna to improve to 4-4 on the year.
After an opening Madonna goal, Aubree Lair and Faith Boa put the Tigers ahead with 8 minutes to go in the 1st quarter. Shortly after, Boa would receive a card and be sent off for 2 minutes. Being down 1 player did not deter the Tigers attack as they scored 3 times with Boa on the sidelines. Madison Catoggio, Maggie Byrd, and Aubree Lair all scored before Boa returned, marking 5 straight Tiger goals. Boa would return and score once more to close the opening quarter with a 6-1 Tigers lead.
The momentum carried into the 2nd as GC scored 3 times in less than 5 minutes to take a 9-1 lead. Boa scored 2 of the goals with Maddie Brock sandwiched between. Madonna got some momentum back by scoring 3 of the final 4 goals of the quarter over a 9:03 stretch. Georgetown led 10-4 at the half.
Coming out of halftime, the Tigers decided it was time to end things and did so with 6 unanswered goals in the 3rd. Katerina Gilbert scored twice, along with goals from Lair, Brock, Boa, and Madison Diaz. The result was a 16-5 lead and a running clock the rest of the way. Kara Brill scored twice late in the 4th to cap the scoring on the day.
Faith Boa led the Tigers with 6 goals and an assist. Georgetown showed its balance as 7 Tigers combined for the other dozen goals. Olivia Yakel and Madison Haney each played a half in goal and combined for 6 saves. The Tigers also dominated draw controls 16-9 and had a 19-9 advantage in ground balls.
They'll next return to AAC play on Wednesday with a road trip to Cumberlands. The opening draw is set for 7:00pm in Williamsburg.
