Tigers split day two with the Titans

Georgetown College baseball split day two with Indiana University South Bend. The Tigers (12-7) took game one, 3-2, while the Titans (1-10) scratched out their first win 8-2.

GC stranded 20 runners in the two games, making it difficult to apply pressure to the visitors.

Nick Giambalvo scored the winning run of game one when his sacrifice fly scored Shawn Dubin. After tallying 22 runs the day before, GC managed just a run in each of the first, sixth and ninth innings for a game one win. This secured them of the weekend series, but the Titans saw a win get ripped from them and they were hungry in game two.

The visitors scored the winning run in the top of the fourth and added five more in the sixth for good measure. Antonio Monroy had three hits and Gilbody two, half of the team total. However, 11 stranded runners ended rallies before they should have and kept the Tigers at bay.

GC is back in action 2 pm Tuesday against Union College in Barbourville, Ky.
