Tigers crank six home runs in 27-1 win

Georgetown College baseball tallied 27 runs on April 27. It is the largest victory in coach Micah Baumfeld's tenor as the Tigers traveled to Grayson, Ky. for a 27-1 win over Kentucky Christian University.

GC had four home runs and two grand slams as the visitors broke the game open with multi-run innings in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

Diego Perez put one over the fence as part of the five-run third that all but won the game. Antonio Monroy hit both of his home runs in the fourth, as the Tigers scored eight runs on four hits.

He led it off with a solo home run and then hit a three run shot in the latter part of the inning. It is his third three-run home run in four games and fourth and fifth home runs in the same time frame.

Rodnee Little hit his first home run to lead off the fifth. GC scored eight more on seven hits, including the first grand slam of the game.

Jake Purkins pinch hit for Brandon Benson and took the first pitch offered over the fence for four runs, driving in Fernie Ugarte, Larkin Heldt and Tyler Wagner.

Little cranked the second grand slam, and the last home run of the day for the Tigers, in the sixth. He sent the first pitch he saw over the wall to bring in Benjamin Robison, Ugarte and Purkins.

Georgetown and KCU finish the three-game series Saturday with a doubleheader. First pitch is set for noon.
