Tigers need to rally, win three to advance

In the semifinals of the championship bracket, Georgetown College baseball faced off with No. 4 Georgia Gwinnett College. The No. 13 Tigers (44-14) got behind early and never could recover as the Grizzlies (45-11) scored six runs in the first five innings, but broke the game wide open in the seventh as they won 12-2.

Gabriel Figueroa got GC's scoring inning going. In the fifth, the short stopped singled with one out. After out two, Chris Gilbody added another single. With two on and two out, Ryan Gaynor stepped to the plate. His two-out single plated two runs, trimming the deficit to three.

However, GGC answered with one in the bottom half of that inning and then used seven hits for six runs in the bottom of the seventh against two different Tiger pitchers.

Georgetown heads to the consolation bracket, the same spot the team was in at the 2014 opening round site. The Tigers rallied out and won the site to punch a ticket to the World Series.

GC would need to get through the winner of Indiana University Southeast and Union College - currently playing the semifinals of the consolation bracket - Wednesday morning at 11 am in the consolation bracket finals. The winner of that game faces Gwinnett at 3 pm for the championship.

Should the consolation bracket winner win the 3 pm game, an if necessary game would be played noon on Thursday.
