Rocky fifth leads to 8-4 LWC win

Georgetown College baseball hosted Lindsey Wilson College Saturday afternoon to finish of the three-game series.

The Tigers (4-3, 1-1) had a rough fifth inning. The Blue Raiders (4-4, 1-1) broke open a 2-2 game with five runs. The visitors leveled the series with an 8-4 win.

Bryan Golnick start the game on the mound and through four he had two hitless innings and scattered five hits the other two with two runs. A one-out single followed by an error to the next hitter started a chain reaction. When the dust settled five runs had crossed on four hits.

Pasquale DeFillips and Isaac Olson also came in to pitch in the inning before finally getting the third LWC out.

Olson was a solid middle reliever, going three and a third. He gave up one hit, with two walks and five strikeouts. He gave up an insurance run in the eighth. Keenen Cisneros finished pitched the ninth, allowing just one hit.

Georgetown made noise in its last at bat. Brandon Krennrich started it with a single and moved to third on a double by Jake Manderson. David Rojas ground out scored Krennrich. Manderson's courtesy runner, Jacob Dezarn, scored on Trey Eden's ground out. The lead was now four, but with one out left the mountain was too high to climb.
