Tigers Outhit Against Huntington

Fresh off the sweep against Madonna from the prior day, the Tigers looked to keep the momentum going against the Foresters of Huntington (IN).  Chad Baker would get the start, and look to build off his prior one. However, that would be short lived. It looked to be a quick first, after 2 outs on two pitches. Two singles and a hit by pitches would load the bases with two outs. They would deliver, and plate home two in the first. Similarly in the second, it looked to be a quick inning, but once again with two outs, Huntington would get something going, and this time via the long ball. They moved their lead to 3-0. In the 4th, Baker would get back into trouble by hitting his fourth batter of the game, and giving up a single. Baker would exit after 3 and a third innings. Sophomore Sam Turilli would come into to make his Tiger pitching debut. Immediately, Turilli would give up a base hit to plate home 1. Two batters later after an out and hit by pitch, they would plate home two more after a double to right. They would score in the fifth and sixth again off of Turilli. The only pitcher to not give up a run was fellow newbie Ian McNabb, who was also making his debut on the mound for the Tigers. He would work around two hits, and end the seventh scoreless. Baker would get the loss in this one, after allowing 5 runs, and hitting 4. Baker now moves to 0-2 on the year.

The offense was a little stagnant, similarly to yesterday. They were consistently getting runners on base, as they had 6 hits, 2 batters getting on base via errors, and two walks. However, the biggest difference today and all season has been the two out hits. Huntington scored 6 of their 8 runs with two outs, which is a back breaker. The Tigers would score only two runs in this game, both being off of two outs. However, it was just too much to overcome, as they didn't score until they were down six. Justin Starkey would single home Schineller in the fourth to get the Tigers on the board. They would get their second in the 6th, when senior Payton Rios would leave the yard.
