Tigers Drop Opener

Starting the first of four against Spring Arbor (MI), you would expect a Baker to be on the mound. Except in this one it was not Trevor Baker, but rather Chad Baker. Trevor was sidelined with an ankle sprain. Chad Baker would turn in arguably his best start of the season. Baker would pitch 5 shutout innings, and look to be in the driver's seat. The start of the 6th looked to be the same after he stuck out the first batter of the inning. However, he would walk the next two batters on 8 pitches. With runners on first and second, SAU would connect and plate home the two to take the lead. SAU would add another later in the inning to get their 3rd. Baker would finish the inning, and have a line finished at 6 innings, 6 hits, 2 runs, and 7 strikeouts. Down 3, Chris Lenocker would come in, but unfortunately allow two more runs to score.

There would not be much to write home about on offense. The Tigers would struggle against SAU's crafty lefty. The only thing to take note of is that Joshua Duarte went 0-0, with two hit by pitches and a walk. The Tigers would end up getting shut out in this one, only getting one runner past second base in this 7 inning affair. Being shutout, they would drop the first game of the series 5-0.
