Barrera's Spins 2nd Consecutive Shutout

Barrera's Spins 2nd Consecutive Shutout

The rubber match of the series would be entrusted to Anthony Barrera. Barrera is fresh off of eight shutout innings against Spring Arbor (MI). Barrera would be like last-week's self, and throw a seven inning complete game shutout. Union never really looked like they could get anything going besides the second and fourth innings. However, in the two innings Barrera would get out of it without anything coming out of it. Barrera retired Union's last 12 of 13 batters to end the game. Barrera's final line ended at 7 innings, 5 hits, 6 Ks, and only one walk.

The offense would score more than 5 runs for only the fourth time this year. The scoring started in the first when the catalyst Joshua Duarte led off with a single. He would then score after stealing second, and scoring off a single from Hank Schineller
The third saw another run thanks to a lead off hit by pitch to Jacob Dezarn. Duarte would then single to put runners on first and second. Both would score on a double from Chapman, to make it 3-0. Garret Thurman would single home Chapman later in the inning to push it to 4-0.

The next inning saw Duarte single home two more runs thanks to an error, pushing it to 6-0. The seventh saw Chapman get the Tigers their 7th, after a leadoff single from Dezarn. Dezarn would come around after a stolen base, error, and sac-fly. The Tigers would score their 7 runs on 7 hits. The key performers in this one would be Dezarn and Duarte. Dezarn would score 3 times, after not starting this one. Duarte had two hits in three at bats, 2 rbi and 2 runs.
