Rios Goes Yard Twice in Offensive Onslaught

The second game of the series was similar to game one, but this time Beau Becker got the start. Becker would hand over his second consecutive quality start. He would throw up five scoreless frames to start the game, and St. Xavier would not get anything going til the 6th. Unfortunately for Becker, they would score on a wild pitch, but no more after that.

The Tigers would get on the board in the first, on the first of three big hits from Payton Rios. Rios would single to the opposite field, to plate home Landon Dismang, who singled in the inning, making it 1-0.

They would get back on the board in the fifth after Jacob Dezarn and Joshua Duarte reached base. Dismang would pick up the 2nd run of the game on a ground out. Hank Schineller would single up the middle to make it 3-0. Rios would then be up to bat, and leave the yard for the first time of the year. Dezarn and Duarte would reach base again, and two outs later Rios would walk to give the Tigers bases loaded with two outs. A hit by pitch by Joey Lapolla and a walk from Jarrett Chapman would make it 7-0. Grayson Caple would come through for the Tigers, and lace a single the other way to make it 9-0.

SXU would be on the board in the 7th and 9th off of one home run and unearned run off of Ian McNabb and two unearned runs off of Ashton Deskins, making it 9-5. That would be all that SXU would get off of Deskins, as he would close out the game. The Tigers would answer back in the 8th, after Rios would leave the yard for the second time, extending the lead back to 7, at 11-4. They would get their 12th run of the game in the 9th off of a sac fly from Julian Huerta. SXU would get their 5th in the 9th, making it 12-5. Becker picks up his second win of the year, moving to 2-1.
