Tigers Fall in Midweek Action

Fresh off the 23 runs score at Cumberland, the Tigers would be back at home on the diamond against IU-Southeast. Things did not start out as hot offensively, but they were able to get the first run of the game in the second when catcher Jacob VonThaden would single through the left side to score Jarrett Chapman, who led the inning off with a walk.

Beau Becker would start for the Tigers in this one, after just two days of rest and look dominant to start this one. Through the first five innings, Becker had a shutout going in this one. The inning started off with back to back hits. They would score on a wild pitch and rbi-ground out to take the lead at 2-1 entering the bottom of the 5th.

From the 3rd to 6th innings, the Tigers could not get anything going offensively. However, in the 7th, they would even this game back up. Once again, it was VonThaden who would cash in for the Tigers. He would hit a one hopper to the fence to plate home Chapman again to make it 2-2. That is all that the Tigers would score in this one, as the offense would only get six hits and score two runs.

Entering a tie ball game, Chris Lenocker would be called upon. He would pitch a scoreless frame for the Tigers to push this one to the 8th. In the 8th, IUSE would get one across on a sac-fly to take the lead. In the 9th, Mason Mortimer would be next out of the 'pen to try and keep it at a one run lead. Mortimer would be unsuccessful in that task, as IUSE would plate home two insurance runs to take the lead at 5-2. Lencoker moves to 0-1 on the year.
