Baker Dominates in Return

Headed into the second weekend of conference play, the Tigers would be hosting the Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders. Returning from injury, Trevor Baker would be on the bump for the Tigers. The first batter of the game would reach via a hit by pitch, but Baker would work out of it. Fast forward to the third, the only run that LWU would get would come on a solo homer down the right field line to give the Blue Raiders a 1-0 lead. That would be the first and last time that the Blue Raiders had anything going for them. Baker would close this one out, and go the full seven innings while striking out six, and walking none. Baker picks up his first win of the year, to move to 1-2.

For the first five innings of this one, the Tigers would look overmatched at the plate, despite having four hits scattered. In the sixth, everything would change. A hustle double from Landon Dismang to lead off the inning looked to get the Tigers in a position to even this one up. An intentional walk to Payton Rios and a single from Jarrett Chapman loaded the bases. Coach Randy Guite would turn to pinch hitter Joey Lapolla. Lapolla would work a full count, and then hit a 103 mph liner to second, which would score two runs to give the Tigers a lead at 2-1. Jacob VonThaden would get Baker a much needed insurance run, by hitting a deep sac-fly to give the Tigers a 2 run lead.
