Tigers Crush Lindsey Behind 13 Hits

The offense would score at an unconscious rate in this one, as they would score in six of the seven played innings. Landon Dismang would get the scoring started in the first, after singling to lead off the inning. In the second, a leadoff double from Jacob VonThaden would get the Tigers going early. He would come around to score on a double from Austin Vincent to extend the lead to two. Vincent would then come around to score on a single from Dismang, making it 3-0. In the third, they would get another run on an rbi single from Justin Starkey, and a 5th run on a sac-fly from Vincent, making it 5-0 after three.

The 4th would end up being the exclamation point in this one. A leadoff single from Dismang and a 102 mph homer from Hank Schineller extended the lead out to 7. Then with two outs, the Tigers would add four more runs on a doubles parade. A double from Starkey and a walk from VonThaden put two runners on. Jacob Dezarn would then piece a double down the left field line to plate home both, making it 9-0. A hit by pitch would then put the Tigers back in the same situation for Joshua Duarte, who had been having a quiet day. He too would go the other way, and plate home two more on a stand up double to give the Tigers a 11-0 lead.

In the 5th, the Tigers would get three more to cross the board. A leadoff single from Schineller, and an RBI triple from Payton Rios saw the Tigers pick up a 12th run. Rios would then score on a single from Chapman. Chapman would score the 14th run on an error by LWC, which came off the bat of Dezarn.

On the mound for the Tigers would be junior Anthony Barrera. Barrera would be dominant for the first three frames, going 9 up 9 down, while striking out two. In the fourth, LWC would load the bases on two hits and hit by pitch, but Barrera would work out of all trouble. In the fifth,

LWC led off the inning with a solo homer to left. They would then plate another after an rbi groundout, making it 11-2. With the bases loaded and no outs, Barrera would get a strike out. That would be the day for Barrera, as coach Guite would turn to Nikayha Castro. Castro would come in and dominate, as he would strike out the first batter. The next batter would smoke a ball, but fortunately for the Tigers, Castro would snag it, and leave LWC scoreless. Castro would work a clean 7th, and close it out for the Tigers, as they picked up their 18th overall win and 5th in MSC play. Barrera moves to 5-1 on the year.

The Tigers go for the series sweep tomorrow, as game three is set to begin at 1 pm.
