Duarte's Homers Not Enough in Finale

Duarte's Homers Not Enough in Finale

Heading into the rubber match, the Tigers would get on the board in the first inning. Joshua Duarte led off the game by getting hit, and would end up on third after a sac bunt and stolen bag. With two outs, Payton Rios would rope a single to score Duarte.

Chad Baker started for the Tigers in the decider match. Things would be clean for the first two innings for Baker, but back to back hits in the third would get Bethel in the run column. Bethel would get another in the 4th.

In the fifth, Duarte would put the Tigers back in the lead with his second homer of the series, making it 3-2. The lead would not last long, as in the bottom frame, Bethel would put up a three spot, and knock Baker out of the game.
Julian Huerta would be turned to, and in the 6th, he would give up a solo homer to make it 6-3. However, in the top of the 7th, Joshua Duarte would get that run immediately back with his second homer of the day. With the lead cut down to two, the Tigers would get another run in the 8th. A leadoff single from Jarrett Chapman and double from Jose Cazorla gave the Tigers runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Pinch hitting, Garrett Thurman would ground out to second, to get the Tigers to within one. Now within one and a runner at third, the Tigers would be unsuccessful in tying it up after two strikeouts.

Ashton Deskins would be on for the 9th, but after a leadoff walk, that would be it for Deskins. Bryson Huwar would be turned to in an attempt to keep it within one headed to the 9th. Unfortunately, Bethel would add two more to make it 8-5. In the 9th, the Tigers would not get much going, and would drop the series against Bethel.
