Tigers Drop First to Campbellsville

Tigers Drop First to Campbellsville

Headed into this senior day doubleheader, Trevor Baker would take the bump with his near 1 ERA. He would work an efficient first inning, but the second inning would be different. Two hard hits saw Campbellsville with runners on the corners. Baker would then trade an out for a run, then get the next two guys out via a strike out.

The third and fifth innings saw Baker get touched up for 7 more runs with five coming off of 2 homers and two sacrifice flies. The six earned runs today against Baker nearly doubled his ERA, as he now sits at 2.22, with a record 3-3.

In the 6th and 7th innings, we saw a duo of lefties. The sixth inning was tasked to Mason Mortimer, who would go 1-2-3 on eight pitches. In the 7th, Ian McNabb would enter, and also go 1-2-3 on 7 pitches.

The offense would get on the board first in this one, after Joshua Duarte reached base via an error. A sac bunt from Landon Dismang saw Duarte advance to second, and a stolen base moved him to third. Jose Cazorla would then hit a sac-fly to deep center to score Duarte. The Tigers would not get their first hit of the game till the fourth inning, when Payton Rios beat out an infield single. Duarte had the second hit of the game in the 5th, when he doubled down the line. Those two would be the only two Tigers to collect hits in game one.
