5-Run 8th Propels Tigers Comeback

Headed into the midweek against IU-Southeast, the start of the game is not what interim head coach Chad Miller would have hoped for. Firstly, they would be without all-conference member Joshua Duarte, and IUSE would score in the first five innings of the game. Jared Casebier would get the start for the Tigers, and be one to forget. In the first, the second batter of the game would homer to right to go up 1-0. IUSE would get back on the board in the second via a sac-fly to go up 2-0. In the 3rd, back to back doubles, and a single would knock Casebier from this one, as he would leave after 2 innings with 4 runs gave up. Ashton Deskins would enter, and work out of the inning, leaving the Tigers down 4-0.

In the 4th, the Tigers would get on the board when Hank Schineller homered to left, making it 4-1. Headed into the 4th, Deskins would allow another run in the fourth on a single, and another in the 5th on a homer, to make it 6-1. Following Deskins, the Tigers 'pen would be lockdown.

Now in the top of the 6th, the Tigers' offense would get started. A walk and hit by pitch gave the Tigers runners on 1st and 2nd. They would plate their 2nd run on an error, and their third on a sac-fly from Jose Cazorla, cutting the deficit to 3.

In the 8th, the Tigers would be back in business. Three outs and one walk put the Tigers in a dangerous position, but one that they have lacked in executing all year. Cazorla would come through again for the Tigers with a single to left, scoring two. Payton Rios would single, to reload the bases. Jacob VonThaden would then double down the line to score two more, and give the Tigers a one run lead. They would get the 5th and last run on a wild pitch. After 8 innings, the Tigers were now in the lead, and up 8-6.

The Tigers would then turn to Julian Huerta for the remainder of the game, and would close it for the Tigers. The Tigers are back in action this weekend, as they head to Freed-Hardeman for their second to last conference weekend.
