Tigers Take Home 5 Pieces of Hardware

Earlier today, the Mid-South Conference released their awards for the 2024 Baseball season. 

Taking home awards were Joshua Duarte and Trevor Baker. Both were named to the All-Conference First Team, as they were at the forefront of a lot of the Tigers success all season long. On the season, Duarte led the Tigers' offense by hitting .487, with 11 homers and 41 RBI. During the season, Duarte became the Tigers all-time leader in hits, and is currently tied for 1st in hits with single season hits, with 76. Duarte also led the conference in batting average, nearly 60 points higher than second place. Baker was also dominant on the mound, despite his losing record. In a season where he missed a couple of starts due to an injury, Baker still complied 60 innings, in which he had 68 K, and a confernce leading 2.23 ERA. Over the season, Baker was named MSC Pitcher of the Week twice. 

Payton Rios and Bryson Huwar were named to the All-Confernce 2nd Team. On the year, Rios hit .306 with 4 homers, and 25 RBI. Huwar, primarily severed as the Tigers closer all year, which led to only 13 apperances and 16.1 IP. In those 16 innings, Huwar picked up 22 Ks while only allowing 11 hits and 5 earned runs. He also picked up 3 wins and 6 saves. 

The last of the Hardware weant to Joshua Duarte, who picked up a gold glove. Duarte started the year out at shortstop for the Tigers, but moved back to his native center field halfway through the year. On the year, he only committed 6 errors in 153 total chances, which equates to a .961 fielding percentage.
