Barrera and Huerta Spin A Gem Against Bethel

After getting their game postponed, the Tigers would be up early, to face Bethel (TN), with a chance to go the winner's bracket championship game against Cumberlands.

Anthony Barrera would get the start, his second appearance of the year against these Wildcats. His first outing was not great, as he was pulled early. However, today was a completely different story. He would be upright dominant after the first batter of the game. The leadoff batter would hit a home run that would sneak inside of the left field foul pole. He would not be fazed, as he would get out of the inning without allowing anything else. He would then fire off five consecutive zeros to keep the offense within striking distance. Over the next five innings, Barrera would only allow two hits and two free bases.

The offense would take a little bit to get going, as they were held scoreless for the first third of the game, despite the hard hit balls. In the 4th, after a single and hit by pitch, the Tigers were threatening. After a fly out to right, the Tigers had runners on the corners. The trend of two out runs would continue, as Jarrett Chapman would single through the right side to plate home Payton Rios. Again in the 5th, the offense would get rolling with two outs. After a lead off double from Landon Dismang, an intentional walk to Joshua Duarte, and a wild pitch gave the Tigers two runners in scoring position. Payton Rios would put a ball in a perfect spot, and Bethel would commit an error, and see the next two runs of the game come across for the Tigers.

Headed into the latter third of the game, The Tigers would go quickly up 4-1, as Jose Cazorla belted his third homer of the tournament into the massive scoreboard in right center. However, the two out hits would come through again, as Jacob Dezarn would go the other way to score the Tigers 5th run of the game.

Relieving Barrera in the 7th would be Julian Huerta. Huerta would come in and pound the zone, as he would work quick and efficiently, as he picked up the three inning save. Over his three innings, he would allow one run on two hits and a walk. Barrera now moves to 7-3 on the year, while Huerta picks up his 3rd save of the year.

The Tigers now play Cumberlands, with a chance to move to the Mid-South Conference Championship game. The game is slated to play on Saturday afternoon at 5 pm, but weather may have other things in mind.
