Blue Raiders end Tigers perfect season hopes

The No. 5 Lindsey Wilson College controlled the entire game against No. 9 Georgetown College in Columbia, Ky Saturday. With the 37-14 win, Lindsey Wilson improves to 9-0 on the season and 5-0 in the Mid-South Conference Bluegrass Division. The Blue Raiders sit in the driver's seat for the automatic bid with one hurdle left to jump against No. 21 Campbellsville University.

With the loss, The Tigers fall to 7-1 and 4-1 in the MSC Bluegrass Division.

Despite a rough first half, just 81 yards of offense and five first downs, Georgetown was still in the game down 16-0 with the ball to start the second half. The Tigers had one of its most productive drives all game out of the locker room, capping off the first score with a trick play. Riley Hall pitched it to Bart Bell, high school quarterback turned wide receiver, who heaved it to Shon Lumpkin and the 35-yard score.

But the Blue Raiders came right back with a seven play, 75-yard scoring drive finished by Blake Ingleton plowing into the end zone for a one-yard touchdown run to make it 23-7 at the midpoint in the third quarter.

LWC then put the game out of reach when Dylan Beasley found Jayven Jones for a 47-yard touchdown and put the home team up 30-7.

Coming into the game, Georgetown had only allowed 295 yards per game, which was good enough for seventh in the NAIA while averaging over 400 yards of offense. The Blue Raiders seemed to figure out GC's defense though posting 433 yards of total offense while holding the Tiger's to just over 300 yards.

The scoring got going early when on the very first drive of the game, Ingleton scampered into the end zone for an 18-yard rushing touchdown to cap off a 61-yard drive. In the second quarter, LWC's quarterback Dylan Beasley led a 12-play, 70-yard touchdown drive which was capped off by a Mikey Davis' 19-yard catch and score to put the Blue Raiders up 13-0.

Beasley ended the game 19-for-31 with 239 yards and a season high 40 yards rushing.

Jared Dougherty ended the first half with a 38-yard field goal to put the Blue Raiders up 16-0.

The Tigers would make one last push with just over 10 minutes left in the game when Daric Pugh rushed for his 11th touchdown of the year. Pugh finished the day with 82-yards on 13 carries.

The Lindsey Wilson offense added one more touchdown before the game ended to give them the victory 37-14. The Blue Raiders moved the ball all day long especially on third down. Lindsey Wilson converted 8-of-13 third downs where Georgetown was held to just 4-of-12.
