Tigers roar in West Virginia, 61-19

Georgetown College football won it's second road game in three weeks to stay undefeated in 2021. The No. 9 Tigers (3-0) scored on five straight possessions to break open a tied game for a 61-19 win over Bluefield University.

Payton Standifer put a stamp on GC's defensive dominance with a 26-yard interception in the third. Marcus Omosule had 2.5 sacks (23 negative yards) and 3.5 total tackles for loss as he helped the visitors push the Rams (1-3) back with seven sacks (41) and 11 tackles for a loss of 52.

Even when it seemed as if the home team was doing something to get things going, the Tigers nullified it. Following BU's second touchdown, Rob Sheffield scooped a blocked extra point and rumbled 97-yards for two points for Georgetown.

Brandon Burgess continues to pile up the yards, connecting on 11 of his 20 passes for 279 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. Isaiah Cobb scored two rushing touchdowns on nine carries for 39 yards. Burgess rushed for one as did Payton Brown. Zach Babb did the line share of the run attack with 69 yards and a long of 41.

Jeremy Adams had four catches for 124 yards including a 69-yard touchdown play. Jake Johnson had one grab of 50-yards that was a score, while Aaron Maggard had two catches with one touchdown.

The Tigers are back in action 1:30 pm Saturday hosting University of Pikeville.
