Tigers offense stymied in 35-0 loss

It might be hard to say there are positives out of a 35-0 loss, but Georgetown College football's defense gave No. 1 Lindsey Wilson College all it wanted. Turnovers, short fields and the Tigers (4-2, 1-2) offensive inability to sustain a drive or score were the difference Saturday.

Three series, two of which started in Georgetown territory, opened up a scoreless affair and the Blue Raiders (6-0, 3-0) walked away with the 35-0 win in Columbia, Ky.

However, the defense, facing a team that has won 29 of its last 30 games and were averaging 44 points coming into the game stood tall all day. Twice it held the Blue Raiders scoreless inside the red zone, including following GC's first turnover.

LWC was on Georgetown's 18 and used three plays to go one yard. Ian Sauter was looking to put the first points on the board with a 34-yard kick that was blocked by Davon Starks.

The Tigers held the prolific offense scoreless in the third quarter and almost scoreless in the first. Late in the first quarter, the Blue Raiders started on their own 47. The offensive unit marched 53 yards on five plays to score with 35 seconds left.

This started three straight drives of touchdowns to put the home team up 21-0 at the break. GC stood tall in the third 15-minute session before scoring twice more in the fourth quarter to ice the game.

Tigers are back in action 1:30 pm Saturday hosting Thomas More University for Homecoming.
