Football Tigers earn more All-American honors

After a 10-2 season and a run to the NAIA FCS Semifinals, Georgetown Football has earned more All-American honors since those announced by the AFCA-NAIA last week.

On the heels of 1st Team NAIA All-American honors, Darius Neal has been named a 1st Team All-American by the Associated Press and Victory Sports Network. Neal finished the year with a school record 20 rushing touchdowns, while running for 1,372 yards, 3rd most all-time. He tallied 6 games of over 100 yards rushing and tied a school record with an 88-yard TD run in a win over Pikeville.

Blake Gossett and Chad Holleran have also been named AP 1st Team All-Americans. Gossett was the starting center and anchor for an offensive line that cleared the way to nearly 200 rushing yards per game and 35 points per game. He was a key factor in helping Darius Neal turn in the season he had. Chad Holleran led the defense with 97 tackles on the season and anchored a defense that gave up just 15.3 PPG. He also had 3 sacks, 9.5 tackles for loss, a forced fumble, and an interception return for touchdown against Kentucky Christian. In addition to being named 2nd Team All-Americans by the AFCA-NAIA, the pair have received the same honor from the Victory Sports Network.

Kyren Simpson was named a 3rd Team All-American by the Victory Sports Network. Simpson finished the 2023 campaign with 35 tackles and recorded interceptions in 4 straight games, including the Tigers' 2 playoff wins and the 10-0 win over then 7th-ranked Lindsey Wilson.

For his efforts on the offensive line, Boots Ellett was named an Honorable Mention All-American by the Victory Sports Network. His play at left guard was a critical piece of Georgetown's high-powered offense all season long. Jeremy Adams also earned an Honorable Mention nod by the VSN. The senior tight end averaged 14 yards per catch on the season and had 2 critical touchdown catches in Georgetown's 42-21 playoff win over Baker. He also proved a vital part on the line in Georgetown's rushing attack all year long.
