Tigers dominate MSC Awards, Oliver named Coach of the Year

The Mid-South Conference announced its 2023 All-Conference teams and individual award winners on Thursday.

Georgetown Head Coach, Chris Oliver, was named the MSC Coach of the Year. Oliver led the Tigers to an 8-1 regular season record and a perfect 6-0 run through the MSC to claim the outright conference title. In doing so, the Tigers finish the season ranked #4 in the country and earned the 4-seed in the NAIA Football Championship. It marks the 6th time that Oliver has been named the MSC Coach of the Year.

Chad Holleran was named the Mid-South Conference Defensive Player of the Year. Holleran led a defense that allowed just 11.9 points per game in the regular season, 2nd best in the NAIA. The defense also finished the regular season in the top-5 in yards per game allowed. He leads the Tigers with 69 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and 3 sacks. He also forced a fumble and tallied a pick-6.

For the 4th time in Holleran's career he has received all-conference honors. He was 1 of 8 Tigers named to the 1st-Team All-Conference. Joining him on the Mid-South Conference 1st Team are: Jeremy Adams (TE), Boots Ellett (OL - 3x honoree), Blake Gossett (OL - 2x honoree), Jacob Harmon (DL), Darius Neal (RB - 2x honoree), Kyren Simpson (DB - 2x honoree), and Brodie Williams (LS). The 8 1st-Team Tigers tied with Bethel for most in the Mid-South Conference.

Georgetown also had 6 Tigers named to the 2nd-Team All-Conference. Those honorees are: Colton Cornish (LB), Max Hill (OL), Aaron Maggard (All-Purpose - 2x honoree), Drew Rader (P), Payton Standifer (LB - 2x honoree) and Davon Starks (DB).

The Tigers will next be in action in the 2nd Round of the NAIA Football Championship against an opponent yet to be determined. Kickoff at Toyota Stadium will take place on Saturday, November 25, at 1:00pm.
