Jayrese Williams nearly doubled his season average as he guided Georgetown College men's basketball to a 66-58 win over Campbellsville University Monday.
The sophomore scored a new career-high with 24 points as the No. 21 Tigers (12-2, 5-2) held off a late rally by the CU Tigers (9-6, 2-5). He balanced his night with 12 points in each half.
Georgetown jumped out to an early 13-point edge as the team shot 50 percent from the field – 46.2 from deep. The visitors cooled off in the second, but the closest Campbellsville got was within four inside the final minutes of the game.
CU had various surges in the second half, but GC always had the answer.
Kyran Jones chipped in 11 points. Derrin Boyd had seven points with a team-high nine rebounds.
Georgetown stays on the road to play at Shawnee State University on Thursday. Tip is set for 8 pm.
