Senior Day goes the Tigers way

Drew LaMont and Jake Ohmer each took their final bow at Davis-Reid Alumni Gym, while Tigers fans were given a final glimpse of the future in a 90-73 win over Lindsey Wilson to close out the regular season.

The Blue Raiders came out firing early and raced out to a 12-3 lead less than 4 minutes in. Ohmer knocked down 2 threes to begin chipping away and get the Tigers within 15-11. Defense continued to get the Tigers going and with 9:23 left in the half, Tommy Thomas came on with a steal, a thunderous dunk, and the lead for Georgetown at 21-19. The Blue Raiders would counter with a 9-2 run to lead by 5 with 7 minutes to go. Basket trading would commence until the 2:38 mark when Tae Dozier converted a 3-point play to put the Tigers in front by 2. Lindsey would tie but a dunk from Rashad Bishop put the Tigers up 36-34 with 1:57 left in the half. Georgetown would lead the rest of the game. Bishop would help seal the half with a monster block in the final seconds that led directly to a Tae Dozier lay-in at the horn, giving Georgetown a 40-34 lead at the break.

4 straight points from Tommy Thomas gave Georgetown a 10-point lead less than 90 seconds into the 2nd half. Minutes later, Dozier would nail another 3-point play putting Georgetown up 49-39 with 16:31 to go. Jake Ohmer got back into the party with consecutive baskets, keep Lindsey Wilson at arms length. Georgetown would gradually build on the lead and with 10:41 left, the seas parted, leaving a wide open lane for Jabrion Spikes to throw down an enormous rim rattler. The Blue Raiders called for time, trailing 67-50, with 10:41 to go. The highlight of the night though came at the 9:22 mark. A huge block from Rashad Bishop saw the ball out to Jake Ohmer and the senior delivered a no-look alley-oop slam to Tae Dozier that brought the house down.

Ohmer kept the party going less than 2 minutes later with another 3-pointer and 2 free throws. The Tiger lead became 20 with 7:24 to go. He would later add an assist to his brother, Chad Ohmer, with 4:11 to go, that brought the bench and the Ohmer family to their collective feet.

Jake Ohmer's final night in Davis-Reid Alumni Gym ended with 24 points and that memorable assist. Drew LaMont finished with 5 points, 5 rebounds, and assist and a steal in his final foray in Georgetown.

Tae Dozier showed himself to be the future for Georgetown. The redshirt freshman finished with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists. It was not the first time he flirted with a triple-double on the year. Rashad Bishop was strong off the bench again, finishing with 15 points and 4 blocks. Tommy Thomas added 10 points in just 11 minutes.

Georgetown already had the Mid-South Conference regular season title clinched coming into Senior Day, thus earning an opening-round bye in the MSC Tournament. The Tigers will take on the winner of Bethel/Cumberland (TN) on Friday February 25th at 1:00pm ET, in the quarterfinal round.
