Tigers honor Jim Reid w/ rout of Wilberforce

Georgetown returned to a long-standing tradition at Davis-Reid Alumni Gym on Saturday with this year's rendition of the Central Bank Jim Reid Classic. With a number of Reid family members in attendance, the Tigers put on a high-flying show in a 104-53 romp of Wilberforce.

The Bulldogs came in to the game having lost to Midway on Friday night in Georgetown and looked for an aggressive, up-tempo game. They scored the first bucket. It would be their only lead of the night. The Wilberforce pressing style allowed the Tigers to work a full-court game. Consecutive dunks from Rashad Bishop set Georgetown off on a 14-0 run after the opening WU bucket. Cam Brooks-Harris knocked down 2 threes in the run and punctuated the spurt with a tip-in bucket.

Kyran Jones made program history in the run. His 1st rebound of the game sent him past Chris Coffey ('20) into 3rd place on the all-time rebounding list in program history. Jones finished the day with 10 rebounds to give him 1,284 boards in his career.

Wilberforce burned a 2nd timeout with 12:47 left in the 1st half after a Jabrion Spikes dunk put Georgetown ahead, 26-7. The lead continued to grow throughout the half, culminating in a 55-26 Georgetown lead at the break. The Tigers shot 54% in the half and forced 13 Wilberforce turnovers.

The show continued in the 2nd half as Wilberforce continued its style of play throughout the game. Georgetown was happy to oblige as the highlights kept coming. In total, the Tigers posted 9 dunks in the game and scored 33 points off 25 Bulldog turnovers.

Rashad Bishop led the Tigers with 20 points in just 13 minutes of action. Kyran Jones and Cam Brooks-Harris each tallied double-doubles. Jabrion Spikes added 12 off the bench. Isaiah Mason and Jaquay Wales scored 10 each.

The Tigers will head south next Saturday for the 1st of 2 games at The Show in Kingsport, TN. The Tigers will take on Southeastern (FL) at 11:00am ET.
