Zutterman shoots -1 on Day 1 of Blue Raider Classic

Carter Zutterman fired a 71 and 70 on day 1 of the Blue Raider Classic at The Pines at Lindsey Wilson on Monday to lead Georgetown. It placed him in a tie for 10th on the individual leaderboard.

In Round 1, Zutterman started with 6 straight pars before consecutive bogeys and a double bogey to finish the front 9 with a 4-over 40. The freshman regathered at the turn and made his run. After pars on 10 and 11, Zutterman birdied 12 to get +3. After a bogey on the par-3 13th, he would birdie 4 of his final 5 holes to shoot 31 on the back nine and get to even par, 71, to end the round.

In Round 2, Zutterman got going early. After a par and bogey to start, he birdied the par-3 3rd, then followed with an impressive eagle on the par-5, 533 yard, 4th to get to -2. After pars on 3 of the next 4, Zutterman closed the front 9 with a birdie to make the turn with a 34 and -2. He would par 5 of the 1st 6 on the back 9 before a tough triple bogey on 16. The hole put him at +2 for the round, but the freshman show incredible resolve with an eagle on the par-4 17th and a birdie on 18. The last 2 holes brought Zutterman home in 70 to finish the day.

As a team, the Tigers finished the day in 9th place overall. Laine Schulten finished at +8 after making up ground in the 2nd round with a strong 73. Sean Mullarkey bounced back after an 81 in the opener with 74 in round 2. Dalton Robertson and Cole Logsdon had bright moments in each of their rounds, ultimately finishing at 157 and 160, respectively.

Round 3 takes place on Tuesday morning at The Pines.
