Men's Golf places 4th at UPike Fall Invite

Men's Golf had an up-and-down 3 rounds at the UPike Fall Invite. Rounds 1 and 3 saw the team shoot even and -1, respectively, but a +12 2nd round bumped the Tigers to a 4th place tie in the team standings.

Seth Shelley led the Tigers by shooting even par over the 54-hole event. After a bogey on 3, Shelley came roaring back with an impressive eagle on the par-3 7th to move to -1 and make the turn in 35. A double-bogey on 13 dropped Shelley back to +1, but he responded with birdies on 17 & 18 to finish the 1st round with a 1-under 71. Round 2 for Shelley saw an adventurous front 9 with bogeys on 2, 3 and 5 followed by birdies on 7 and 8, giving Shelley a front-9 37. The back 9 saw 2 bogeys and 7 pars for a 2nd round 75, dropping Shelley to +2 overall after 2 rounds. Round 3 saw Shelley attack early with birdies on 3, 4, and 5 to charge up the leaderboard. A bogey on 6 gave him a 34 on the front, en route to a final round of 70 and his 6th place finish.

Laine Schulten hung with Shelley on the leaderboard for most the event. Schulten finished tied for 11th at +2 with rounds of 71, 72 and 75. Carter Zutterman's tournament mirrored that of the team's. Zutterman was solid in rounds 1 & 3 with scores of 71 and 70, but a 2nd round 80 knocked him down to 16th place at +5. Evan Coffey was consistent throughout the tourney with scores of 75, 74, and 74 to finish right behind Zutterman at +7. Christian Clements and Connor Smith finished in 24th and 25th respectively at +13 and +15.

The Tigers are next scheduled for the Lindsey Wilson Invite at Gibson Bay in Richmond, KY on October 14th and 15th.
