Men's Golf finishes T-5 at Gibson Bay Match Play

Men's Golf spent Monday and Tuesday at Gibson Bay in Richmond, KY competing in an 8-team match-play style tournament. The Tigers finished tied for 5th with a 1-2 team record.

In the opening round, the Tigers took on eventual winner, Lindsey Wilson. Georgetown was swept 5-0 in the match. Christian Clements came the closest to a win as he fell just 2&1.

The 2nd round of match play saw Georgetown match up with Milligan. Georgetown also fell in this one by a 4-1 aggregate. Carter Zutterman picked up a solid 4&3 win for the team point. Seth Shelley was close in his match as he lost just 1 down. Laine Schulten fell 3&2, while Christian Clements lost 2&1 and Evan Coffey fell 5&3.

The final round of the tournament was where Georgetown was able to pull out a team win, 3-2, over Rio Grande. Seth Shelley dominated over the final 6 holes of his match to pull away for a 5&3 win. Laine Schulten picked up a tough 1Up win although he led for 14 of the 18 holes. Evan Coffey brought home the clinching win, 2Up, as he led for 10 of the final 11 holes.

The Tigers next travel to Bowling Green on the final weekend of October to play in the Mid-South Conference Fall Preview at Bowling Green Country Club.
