Gregory gives GC early lead in season-opener

Nick Gregory started where he left 2017 off, scoring early for the Georgetown College Tiger men's soccer team. The senior scored in the ninth minute again University of Michigan-Dearborn. However, the Wolverines (1-0) equalized three minutes later off a set piece and scored the winning goal in the second half. GC (0-1) fell 2-1 in Riverview, Mich.

The game was delayed an hour with just shy of 14 minutes remaining. The Tigers tried to push the attack for the tying goal, but could not find the back of the net against Alex Siluk.

Griffin Smith tended goal for Georgetown, saving four of the six shots on frame he faced. Landen LeDuke finished off the game between the pipes, stopping the only shot taken on him.

GC is back in action Aug. 27 at Freed-Hardeman.

Kickoff is set for 8 pm in Henderson, Tenn.
