Tigers fall in double overtime
Too say it was an extended match between Georgetown College and Spalding University in men's soccer might be an understatement.
The Tigers (1-2) traveled to Louisville, Ky. for a Friday late afternoon battle. Through 50-plus minutes of action, the visitors were in control and everything looked good minus the sky overhead. The weather forced postponement and a start from minute zero.
Georgetown returned Saturday morning where the host Golden Eagles (1-0) grabbed the early control, but needed double overtime for a 3-2 victory.
Now GC bounces back with a 7:30 pm road game Sunday against another NCAA Division III opponent in Centre College.
Georgetown needed a late rally, erasing a two-goal deficit in the second half. Noel Roman netted the visitors' first goal in the lower right corner. Nearly 12 minutes later, Zachary Jaquess took a pass from Brody Kiper and tied the game.
The first 10 minutes were a draw and it seemed as if the second 10 would be the same. However, in the 109th minute Abnel St. Fleur scored to end the game in SU's favor.
