Tigers rally past Trailblazers

Georgetown College men's soccer team had to rally back, leveling its record Saturday afternoon at Toyota Stadium. The Tigers (4-4) defeated Ohio Christian University, 4-2, to finish off the week with back-to-back wins.

"I'm really happy for the team after this win," said GC coach Brent Chase. "They keep training hard and are starting to produce on the field."

Three times in the second half of Wednesday's win, Keaton Kennedy was closing in on a free kick goal. Saturday he delivered, giving GC a 3-2 lead it never relinquished. It was Kennedy's first career goal at Georgetown.

Just more than 13 minutes later, Noel Roman finished his fifth goal of the season. The cushion goal gives him 12 points on the season – ranking him among the Top 50 in the NAIA.

The Tigers controlled tempo early and Sanjay Karim scored his third goal of the season in the 11th minute. Things seemed to be rolling in GC favor until a pair of transition goals not three minutes apart gave the Trailblazers (3-4) a 2-1 edge.

Logan Blankenship helped the Tigers get the game back even in the 27th minute. It remained a stalemate for the remainder of the half.

Jacob Roberts turned in eight saves, continuing to improve on his phenomenal sophomore season. He has a nation leading 69 saves in just seven games played, averaging nearly 10 saves a game – also tops in the country.

"We are going to stay focused on developing day after day," Chase said. "Anyone that watches us play can see the growth and that is due to the commitment of our players."

GC is back in action 7 pm Tuesday against Mount St. Joseph University.
