Roman nets winner in rally over Phoenix

Noel Roman scored his 12th and most important goal of the season Saturday for the Tigers (10-1, 1-1). The senior netted a shot off a pass from Seba Bocaz Canales, his third assist of the game, as Georgetown College men's soccer team rallied from a two-goal deficit for a road Mid-South Conference win over Cumberland University (6-4, 1-1).

Tyler Watson started strong for the home team, scoring his first of two in the second minute. He added some padding to the lead in the 17th minute. However, senior Matthew Longstreet was not to be denied.

In just his second game back from injury, he connected on his first shot of the game off a pass from Canales. This trimmed the Phoenix lead to one, 2-1, roughly eight minutes before halftime.

Lucas Cadiz scored his second goal of the season in the 62nd minute to tie the game at two. Roman put the Tigers up with just more than 15 minutes left, then Luca Zellman netted the cushion goal with a minute 44 left.

Georgetown is back in action 7:30 pm Wednesday at University of the Cumberlands.
