Bocaz Canales ignites Tigers in late surge

Seba Bocaz Canales had a break out moment late Tuesday as Georgetown College men's soccer faced a two-goal deficit. The sophomore became electric in his shot selection and ball delivery, pushing Cumberland University onto its heels to turn the tide of the match.

It ended as a double overtime draw, 4-4, but might be the catalyst in the coming weeks for the Tigers (3-2-3, 2-1-3) in changing those ties to victories.

With the home team down 4-2, Bocaz Canales found another gear. Just more than 30 seconds after the Phoenix made it a two-goal cushion with less than 10 minutes to play, Georgetown was fouled in the box. Bocaz Canales took the penalty kick, netting it high upper 90 and bringing the Tigers within a goal of forcing overtime.

Just more than six minutes later, Jake McKettrick sent in a through ball that was finished by Bocaz Canales and the game was all tied up. Neither team could generate a goal in the two, 10-minute extra sessions, leading to Georgetown's third conference draw of the season.

The Tigers start a three-game road stretch noon Thursday at University of Pikeville.
