Second half goals hurt Tigers at Life

Life University men's soccer had a quick start to the second half, netting two within the first 10 minutes. Those goals were the difference in the game against Georgetown College Tuesday. The first tied the Mid-South Conference battle and the second served as the game winner.

Both teams had plenty of chances but each goalie did an excellent job turning aside those shots. Theren Handlon got the start in net for the Tigers (4-4-3, 3-3-3), making eight saves against the Running Eagles (6-7, 5-6).

Seba Bocaz Canales got the scoring going with a goal in the first 15 minutes. He took a pass from Ahmed Nossier and the visitors were on the board first. Life tied it just more than four minutes later, but Jake McKettrick retook the lead for the Tigers with his goal in the 36th minute.

Life did not waste much time in the second half getting back even and taking its first lead of the game. Three minutes into the final 45 it was tied and five minutes after that the home team had pulled ahead on a penalty kick.

Handlon made five saves after that to keep the game at a one-goal deficit. Running Eagles' goalie Fabian Pekruhl had four saves in the second half to keep GC at bay.

Georgetown is back in actin 6:30 pm Thursday at Bethel University.
