Nossier scores two as Tigers win opening round

First postseason win since 2006

Georgetown College men's soccer tallied two quick goals early in the second half to provide enough cushion to hold off host Shawnee State University Tuesday. The Tigers (5-6-3) beat the Bears (5-6-3) 3-2 to advance to the Mid-South Conference quarterfinals.

Campbellsville University is playing host to the remainder of the tournament. GC faces top-seeded Bethel University 11 am Friday.

Ahmed Nossier got the scoring going late in the first half, but it was a pair of insurance goals that proved to be the difference. Donat Juhasz netted the first just more than a minute into the second half. Nossier scored the winner barely three minutes later.

SSU, which came to Georgetown and tied the Tigers in the regular season, found the net twice late to make it interesting. This was GC's first postseason win since beating West Virginia Tech in the 2006 MSC Opening Round 16-0.

Bethel handed GC its worst loss under coach Brent Chase several weeks back as the Wildcats exploded for eight goals in the second half. The Tigers look to change that narrative this weekend.
