Canales goal lifts Tigers on senior day

Georgetown College men's soccer has shown it can have an offensive explosion, but also knows how to win the close ones. In the Mid-South Conference opener and senior day, the Tigers (6-0-0, 1-0-0) took care of business.

It was a draw through 45, but GC found ways to wear down Freed-Hardeman University and finally finish deep in the attack. Seba Bocaz Canales took a pass from Luca Zellman as the home team won 1-0.

With two targets in the box in the vicinity of Zellman's pass, the Lions (4-2-0, 0-1-0) defense had to commit to the one they thought had the best chance to score. This freed up Canales for his fourth goal of the season and first in front of the home crowd.

Theren Handlon pitched his third shutout of the season, making four saves against the FHU attack.

The Tigers are back in action 8 pm Thursday hosting Bethel University.
