Tigers topple No. 21 Wildcats, 4-1

Georgetown College men's soccer posted one of the program's biggest wins in a decade Thursday night. The Tigers (7-0, 2-0) welcomed the No. 21 Wildcats (5-2-1, 0-1) of Bethel University to town.

At the end of March, these two squared off in what was one of the biggest losses in coach Brent Chase's era. A few weeks later, BU needed a penalty kick in the Mid-South Conference tournament quarterfinals to escape GC.

Thursday night, it was Tiger time. The team continued to show growth from that March 27 setback by scoring early and often against the Wildcats in a 4-1 win.

Angus Taylor put the Tigers on top and the home crowd was ecstatic. Diego Mora netted the second goal late in the first half. Both goals off assists from Seba Bocaz Canales – who is currently ranked second in the country in assists.

Bethel made it interesting early in the second half with a goal for a 2-1 game. However, GC showed how unrattled it was and scored the first insurance goal not five minutes later as Canales found Luca Zellmann. Icing on the cake, Mark Zimmerman took a pass from Christopher Gschwent for the final tally of the game.

"I'm really excited for our guys because they work so hard every day to earn wins just like this," Chase said.

Georgetown is back in action 6 pm Tuesday hosting University of Pikeville.
