Georgetown College men's soccer, newly receiving votes in the NAIA Coaches' Poll, is off to its best start under fourth-year coach Brent Chase. The Tigers matched the 9-0 start and Wednesday against No. 22 Campbellsville University earned a draw to be at 9-0-1, 4-0-1.
Seba Bocaz-Canales used his speed and knowledge of the game to hurry the CU goalie into a mistake. As the keeper waited for the ball to come into box, the pressure from the junior attacker had the CU player loss focus and the ball. Canales finished it off and the home Tigers were up 1-0.
Lightning forced the first delay of the night moments later. When action resumed Georgetown continued to pour on the pressure, but could not find the back of the net for the insurance goal.
Early in the second half, the visitors used a set piece for a header into the goal as an equalizer. Then just as the game got beyond the official mark, more weather moved in and the game was called. Enough time was played and the result stands as a draw.
The Tigers are back in action 8 pm Saturday at Lindsey Wilson College.
