Offense quiet in 2-0 loss at #22 Madonna

Georgetown came up short in its bid for a top-25 win on Wednesday after falling at #22 Madonna by a 2-0 result. It's the second straight result by that number against the Tigers.

Madonna first struck in the 16th minute with a goal from Corey Matthews to put the Crusaders ahead. The Crusaders garnered 5 shots on net in the half, while Georgetown's only chance in the half was from Alejandro Mena in the 27th minute, but he was denied. Matthews would tally his 2nd of the day and season in the 32nd minute, which gave Madonna a 2-0 lead going to halftime.

Frustration set in and aggression picked up for the Tigers in the 2nd half as they were given 4 yellow cards in the final 45 minutes. The offense could not solve the Crusaders defending as Georgetown again only got 1 shot on goal in the half, coming from Pedro Canal in the 81st minute.

Shjon Ripy finished the day with 5 saves, but still took the loss. In total, Georgetown was outshot 17-4 by Madonna.

The Tigers will look to get the offense going on Saturday when they travel to Goshen with a 1:00pm kickoff.
