Men's Soccer rolls over Carlow

Coming off the momentum off a rallying win over Goshen on Saturday, Georgetown was on the road once more on Wednesday, looking to sustain said momentum ahead of next Monday's showdown with #1 Bethel (IN). The Tigers did that and then some as they comfortably dispatched of Carlow by a 5-0 result.

The Tigers dominated all facets on the pitch from the opening whistle. The breakthrough came in the 14th minute when Frederik Pederson found the back of the net off a feed from Alejandro Mena. Pedro Canal followed with a goal just 55 seconds later and it was quickly 2-0, Tigers. Carlow would stabilize the scoring but not the advantage until Georgetown delivered the knockout blows late in the half. Camilo Ramirez Lopez scored in the 43rd minute off an assist from Esteban Betancurt Cardona, and Alejandro Mena found the net less than 2 minutes later. The goals gave Georgetown a 4-0 lead at halftime. It was a half in which the Tigers outshot Carlow, 21-0, including 12-0 in shots on goal.

Cardona added a goal in the 51st minute of the 2nd half and from there, the Tigers began to work deeper into their rotations while still not allowing Carlow to find any progress with possession. The Celtics tallied 1 shot the entire match and it was not on goal. The total shot advantage favored Georgetown, 33-1. Carlow keeper, Kevin Garcia, finished the day making 13 saves.

Georgetown now returns home this coming Monday to take on #1-ranked Bethel (IN). Kickoff at Toyota Stadium is set for 2:00pm.
