#1 Bethel too much for Tigers

Coming off 2 straight road wins, Georgetown felt confident about its chances hosting #1 Bethel (IN) on Monday at Toyota Stadium. Bethel came in off 2 straight losses, further giving the Tigers that confident feeling. Instead, the game played out exactly the opposite. Georgetown was shorthanded due to injury and Bethel took advantage, en route to a 7-1 win.

Due to injury, the Tigers switched up their usual tactics and came out in a 4-5-1 lineup, electing to defend and look for countering chances. Bethel struck first in the 7th minute and would add another in the 29th minute for a 2-0 lead at the break.

The Pilots added a 3rd less than 2 minutes into the 2nd half, putting Georgetown on the brink. The Tigers switched up the tactics and it paid off in the 60th minute, when Frederik Pederson found space and scored from just inside the goal box on the right side, cutting the deficit to 3-1 and giving the Tigers life. Georgetown had 3 quality chances in the next 15 minutes but were turned away. Meanwhile, Bethel kept attacking and would score in the 76th minute for a 4-1 lead.

Less than 3 minutes later, a controversial call inside the goal box gave Bethel a penalty. The try was converted for a 5-1 lead in the 79th minute. The Pilots would add 2 more tallies in the 86th and 87th minutes for the final margin.

Along with the goal from Pederson, Pedro Canal tallied a point with an assist. Shjon Ripy finished the day in goal with 7 saves.
