John Manga elevated to permanent Head Coach

Today, Georgetown College Athletics has announced that John Manga has been named the permanent Head Coach of Men’s Soccer and the removal of the interim tag given on July 18th, 2024.

Midway through his 1st season at the helm, Coach Manga has led the Tigers to a record of 7-2-2, surpassing the team’s win total from all of 2023. The Tigers’ faster style of play has also elevated the team into the top 20 in the country in total scoring, averaging 3.5 goals per game and a .236 shooting percentage, which currently ranks 5th in the NAIA.

Coach Manga spoke about the opportunity. “First, I would like to thank (Georgetown College President) Dr. Rosemary Allen, and Mr. Chris Oliver (Vice President for Athletics) for entrusting me to lead the men’s soccer program at Georgetown College,” said Manga. “After my conversation with Mr. Oliver, I was thrilled about the opportunity to continue as the permanent head coach and to keep building a culture that will make this institution proud.”

Vice President for Athletics, Chris Oliver, was equally excited about the announcement. "Coach Manga has exhibited tremendous leadership as he has taken the reins of our men's soccer program over these last few months," Oliver said. "While we're all excited about our progress on the field, the positive energy and enthusiasm that is being developed within the program is even more exciting to see.  President Allen and I are in full agreement that Coach Manga has earned this opportunity, and we look forward to the future of our program under his guidance."

The Tigers continue their season on Thursday night with a road trip to 17th-ranked Bethel (TN). Kickoff from McKenzie, TN is set for 9:00pm ET.
