Tiger men improve to 3-1 with win over IUS
Georgetown College men's tennis continued its winning ways Saturday against Indiana University Southeast. The Tigers (3-2) needed to rally after doubles, trailing 2-1. GC won five of the six to take a 6-3 victory in Kokomo, Ind.
Ryo Takeda stayed undefeated in the spring – doubles and singles. He teamed up with Tristan Nosek in doubles for the only and very important Georgetown point. It was a tight battle that the men clawed out 9-8. Takeda went on to a 6-1, 6-4 win over the top Grenadier in singles, while Nosek came back from a set one loss to win 4-6, 6-4, 10-8.
Phillip Hoeper and Hunter Nosek were dealt a narrow doubles loss, 8-5. Each rebounded in the singles. Hoeper won at the three spot. He edged out set one and used the momentum from there to not drop another game, 7-6, 6-0. Nosek was in the five spot for a 6-3, 6-4 win.
Cole McCreary and Isaac Mathis lost 9-7 in doubles. Mathis got a huge singles win, though. The senior was shutout in set one. He then narrowly won set two and the tiebreaker – 0-6, 7-6, 10-7.
McCreary battled in singles before losing 6-4, 6-4.
Georgetown is now gearing up for the spring break tournament, starting this weekend.
