Tigers' rally falls short against Dallas Baptist
Georgetown College men's tennis showed grit Tuesday against Dallas Baptist in Orlando, Fla. The Tigers won just six games in the doubles competition. DB had a stronghold with three doubles wins, but Ryo Takeda and the Nosek brothers led a furious charge. Dallas eventually regained control for a 6- 3 win.
"Lots of heart," said GC coach Michael Cunningham. "It isn't easy to be facing a 3-0 hole after doubles. You always want to put points on the board and make the singles competition a little easier.
"We didn't drop our head, came right into singles and won the first three courts to tie it up. I was very proud of our guys today."
Takeda and Tristan Nosek took a rare loss in doubles, falling 8-4. However, Takeda rebound for a win at one singles 7-6, 2-6, 1-0. Nosek made it quick work 6-3, 6-2 at two singles. Hunter Nosek was right behind those finishes with a 6-4, 6-2 win.
Phillip Hoeper lost the three singles, 6-3, 6-2. Isaac Mathis fell 6-0, 6-2. Cole McCreary made the sixth spot interesting, losing 6-2, 3-6, 10-2.
