Tigers tune up for MSC quarterfinals
Takeda challenges 40th best NAIA player
Georgetown College men's tennis battled hard against No. 19 Asbury University, a good tune up for this weekend's Mid-South Conference Tournament in Bowling Green, Ky.
The Tigers lost Wednesday, 9-0 in Wilmore, Ky. but finished fifth overall in league play to face fourth-seed Campbellsville University Friday at a time to be determined.
Ryo Takeda and Tristan Nosek continue to show what a powerful doubles team they are. Despite taking the loss, they challenged Josh Turnquest and Julian Tellez to an 8-6 match. AJ Berk and Philipp Hoeper also made it interesting in an 8-4 setback at three doubles against Tanner Sparks and Aquille Trotman.
Takeda then had the match of the day at one singles, taking the 40th ranked Turnquest to a tiebreaking before falling 7-6, 4-6 (14-12).
Hoeper took Tellez to a tiebreaker as well, falling 6-3, 3-6 (10-1).
