Men's Tennis Bounces Back to Defeat IUS

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. - After struggling in tiebreaks on Saturday in a loss to Asbury, the Georgetown College men's Tennis team got a critical tiebreak win early in their match against Indiana University-Southeast on Sunday, and the Tigers rode that momentum to a comfortable win to close their opening weekend of the spring schedule.

Georgetown (2-3) took a tiebreak at the number two doubles spot to take the doubles point, and they claimed four of the six singles matches over the Grenadiers (3-2) to take the dual win, 5-2.

IUS took the first doubles match to finish - a 6-3 win at the third pair, but Georgetown's Cole Wilson and Parker Clarke rebounded to take the 6-4 win at the top of the lineup to level things in doubles. That left the doubles point up to the middle pair of Zach White and Tsugunosuke Hirose, who battled to take their match 7-6 - which included a 7-5 tiebreak win.

Logan Smallwood was the only Tiger who won his match in straight sets, but Wilson, Hirose, and Stephen Taylor each won in three sets to give Georgetown the 5-2 win.

The Tigers will return to action on Saturday, February 19 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. That day, they will battle the Mighty Oaks of Oakland City University (4-1) at 5 p.m.
