Men's Tennis Defeats Oakland City

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The Georgetown College men's tennis team took to the courts in Bowling Green against the Oakland City University Mighty Oaks. The Tigers rolled through doubles play and they rode that momentum to a comfortable win as the Tigers opened their second weekend of action in the spring season.

Georgetown (3-3) cruised to victory in all three doubles matches, and Oakland City (4-2) managed only one singles win as the Tigers took the win, 6-1.

Zach White and Tsugunosuke Hirose romped their way to a 6-0 win at number two doubles to start the evening's play, and the tandems of Cole Wilson and Parker Clarke at the top and Logan Smallwood and Matthew Smith at third singles completed the doubles sweep as Georgetown took the 1-0 lead headed to singles action.

Smallwood won 12 of the 13 games played in his match, Stephen Taylor won 12 of 14 at fifth singles, and Hirose also won comfortably in straight sets for the Tigers. White took a straight sets win, but it was closely contested and Clarke took a three set win at the number two spot for the Tigers to give Georgetown the 6-1 win.

Georgetown will continue their trip on Sunday, when they head to Evansville, Indiana to take on the University of Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles (3-1) at 2:30 p.m. Eastern.
