Men's Tennis Back to .500 After Sweep of FHU

GEORGETOWN, Ky. - The Georgetown College men's tennis team took the courts at the Lackey Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon with the goal of completing a weekend sweep of their Mid-South Conference duals and in the process, to get back to the .500 mark for the season overall. Both of those goals were accomplished with a sweep of the visiting Freed-Hardeman University (Tenn.) Lions).

The Tigers (7-7, 2-0 MSC) took wins at the top and bottom of the doubles lineup to nab the doubles point, and they took all three singles tilts that were played to completion as they swept the Lions (2-3, 0-3 MSC) , 4-0.

Cole Wilson and Parker Clarke secured their 11th doubles win of the season, and Andrew Kennedy and Chase Hechemy also took a win to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.

Wilson added a victory in straight sets at number one singles, and Logan Smallwood added another straight sets win to put the Tigers on the cusp of taking the win. The decisive match went into a third set, but Stephen Taylor took the win in the third set easily and the Tigers finished off the Lions in a sweep, 4-0.

The Tigers will head south next weekend for a pair of MSC matches, the first of which will be on Saturday, March 19. On that day, the Tigers will battle the Firehawks of the University of Tennessee Southern (8-2, 1-0 MSC) at 2 p.m. Eastern.
