Men's Tennis Swept at UT-Southern

PULASKI, Tenn. - On Saturday afternoon, the Georgetown College men's tennis team opened a weekend trip to Middle Tennessee with a date at the University of Tennessee Southern. The Tigers struggled to get going on the day, and they dropped the match in a sweep.

UT-Southern (10-2, 2-0 MSC) won all nine matches, but the Tigers (7-8, 2-1 MSC) were competitive throughout the lineup despite the 7-0 loss.

In what would become a theme of the afternoon, the Tigers pushed the Firehawks to the brink at the top of the doubles lineup before falling in a tiebreak. Five of the six singles tilts went to either a third set or a tiebreak, but the Tigers were unable to find a win in any of those five matches, and the Firehawks took the win, 7-0.

Georgetown will finish their weekend journey on Sunday with a 2 p.m. tilt at NAIA No. 16 Cumberland University (7-6, 3-1 MSC).
