Men's Tennis sweeps Shawnee

After a close, but tough loss to Lindsey Wilson on Wednesday, Georgetown came out aggressive on Thursday against Shawnee State. The Tigers proved their might from start to finish in a clean sweep of the Bears for an important MSC win.

Maxcene Barriere and Chase Hechemy got the ball rolling with a 6-4 win in #1 doubles. The tandem of Logan Smallwood and Leo Schirmer clinched the team doubles point with a 6-1 win in their match. In #3 doubles, Jackson Jacobi and Andrew Kennedy brought home a 6-3 win for good measure.

The momentum carried into singles action. Barriere needed a 3rd set tiebreak but took the point for the orange and black. Schirmer picked up his 2nd win of the day, taking down his singles match, 6-3, 6-0. Parker Clarke and Tsugunosuke Hirose were focused on singles action today and it paid off as both won in straight sets. Clarke took his match, 6-3, 6-3, while Hirose won 6-1, 6-1.

Stephen Taylor and Matthew Smith polished off the sweep with straight set wins (6-3, 6-1 for Taylor and 6-1, 6-0 for Smith).

The Tigers will stay home to take on Thomas More on March 28th.
